Passionate about Worship

“Putting your mind’s attention and your heart’s affection on God” (Louie Giglio). Worship is directed to the Father, through the Son, in the Spirit. It is designed for worshippers to experience the measure of the full life of the triune God.

Worship cannot be thought of only as 20 minutes on Sunday morning – it has to be a lifestyle. Romans 12 says, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship”. Joining together to lift up praise to God is one act of Worship but it does not encompass what Worship is. We all worship something, as Christians we should Worship the One, True, Living God by taking our eyes off of ourselves and focusing it on Him.

I recently read an article that I love from another pastor discussing why corporate worship matters and in summary it says:

  • Worship is an honor and a command

  • Worship is biblically prescribed but culturally flexible

  • Worship is the fuel yet the goal of missions

  • Worship involves those inside the church but affects those outside the church

  • Worship is personal and corporate

The truth is that corporate worship is essential not only in the life of the body but for each member. Worship is a time of celebration and jubilation that God has won it all. He has overcome and through His strength may we be overcomers.
